1. Purpose
Plain English: Use our hosting for legal, legitimate purposes. Don't use it to harm, spam, or exploit others. Violations can result in immediate suspension.
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all services provided by 501 Servers LLC. By using our services, you agree to comply with this AUP. We reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy.
2. Prohibited Activities
2.1 Illegal Content & Activities
- Hosting, distributing, or transmitting any content that is illegal under applicable federal, state, or local law
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — this will result in immediate termination and reporting to law enforcement
- Piracy, copyright infringement, or distribution of unauthorized software, music, video, or other copyrighted material
- Facilitating identity theft, fraud, or financial crimes
- Hosting phishing sites, malware, ransomware, or other malicious software
2.2 Spam & Email Abuse
- Sending unsolicited bulk email (spam) from any 501 Servers account or server
- Operating an open mail relay or proxy
- Harvesting email addresses without consent
- Forging email headers or sender identity
2.3 Network Abuse
- Launching denial-of-service (DoS/DDoS) attacks against any target
- Port scanning or probing networks without authorization
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any system or network
- Using our servers as a staging point for attacks against other systems
- Mining cryptocurrency on shared hosting accounts (excessive CPU use)
2.4 Content Restrictions
- Hosting content that promotes violence, terrorism, or hate based on protected characteristics
- Hosting adult content without prior written approval from 501 Servers
- Defamatory, harassing, or threatening content targeting individuals
2.5 Resource Abuse
- Consuming excessive server resources that degrade service for other customers (applies to shared hosting plans)
- Running persistent background processes, cron jobs exceeding reasonable frequency, or resource-intensive scripts on shared hosting
- Storing large media archives or backup files as the primary use of hosting space
3. Permitted Uses
Our hosting services are designed for:
- Business websites, blogs, and informational sites
- E-commerce stores with reasonable traffic
- WordPress and CMS-based websites
- Email hosting for business communications
- Web applications and software as a service (SaaS) with appropriate plans
- Personal portfolio and hobby sites
4. Enforcement
501 Servers may, at its sole discretion, investigate suspected violations of this AUP. Upon confirmation of a violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:
- Issue a formal warning and request immediate remediation
- Temporarily suspend the offending account or service
- Permanently terminate the account without refund
- Report the activity to appropriate law enforcement agencies
- Take legal action to recover costs and damages
For serious violations (CSAM, active attacks, fraud), we will terminate immediately and without prior notice.
5. Reporting Violations
To report abuse originating from 501 Servers infrastructure:
